CBI vs. States
Recently, the Central Government told the Supreme Court that the West Bengal government lacks "absolute" power to prevent the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from probing crimes within the state.
The Union Government was reacting to a complaint filed by the West Bengal government under Article 131 of the Constitution against the Union of India. Article 131 relates with the Supreme Court's original jurisdiction, in which the Supreme Court hears any dispute between the Centre and a state.
