Sub-categorization of Other Backward Castes

Justice Rohini Commission was set up on October 2, 2017, under Article 340 with the task of sub-categorisation of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and equitable distribution of benefits reserved for them.

Constitutional Provisions: Articles 15(4) and 16(4) of the constitution empower the State to make special provisions for any socially and educationally backward class of citizens. Article 340 talks about appointment of a commission to investigate the conditions of backward classes.
