About Parliamentary Privilege & Motion
- Article 105 (for Parliament) and Article 194 (for State Legislature) confers certain privileges on its members (including Attorney General of India) to:
- Protect freedom of speech and expression in the house and insulates them against litigation over matters that occur in these houses;
- Protect against any libel through speeches, printing or publishing;
- Ensure their functioning without undue influence, pressure or coercion; and
- Ensure sovereignty of Parliament.
