NSO Survey on Swachh Bharat
The National Statistical Office (NSO) survey ‘Drinking Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Housing Condition in India’ on sanitation released on 23rd November deflated the claims of an open defecation-free (ODF) India made by the Centre’s flagship Swachh Bharat Scheme.
Key Highlights of the Survey
- The NSO survey was carried out between July and December 2018 with reference point as October 2018.
- At that time, according to the Swachh Bharat Mission database, 95% of households in the country had access to toilets and 25 states and union territories had been declared ODF (100% access to toilets and 100% usage).
- But the survey contradicts this ....
