Chief of Defence Staff
The Government of India created the post of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Gen. Bipin Rawat was appointed as the first CDS of India.
Key Functions of CDS
- He will administer tri-services organisations. Tri-service agencies/organisations/commands related to Cyber and Space will be under the command of the CDS.
- He will be a member of Defence Acquisition Council and head Department of Military Affairs.
- He will be permanent chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee and principal military advisor to Defence Minister.
