Bru Community
In October 2020, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, along with the state governments of Tripura and Mizoram, began the ninth attempt to repatriate more than 30,000 internally-displaced people from the Bru community. Similarly, an agreement was signed between State of Mizoram and Tripura in the presence of Ministry of Home Affairs to repatriate Bru-Reang tribes in Tripura on 17th January 2020.
About Bru Community
- The Brus are ethnically distinct tribe that resides in the three north-eastern states of Tripura, Mizoram and parts of southern Assam.
- They are known as Brus and Tuikuk in Mizoram, and Reangs in Tripura.
