Article 102(1) and 191(1) of the Constitution
The Joint Parliamentary Committee on Office of Profit is deliberating on whether a Member of Parliament can continue to teach at a university and if this draws the provisions of “Office of Profit” rules.
About Article 102(1) and 191(1)
- Article 102(1): It states that a person shall be disqualified from being a member of either House of Parliament, if he holds an ‘Office of Profit’; is an undischarged insolvent; of unsound mind; not a citizen of India; or is disqualified under a law established by parliament.
