Annulment of Article 370 and Article 35 (A)
- The Central government annulled the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under article 370 of the constitution in August 2019 via presidential order. This action also impacts the provisions under article 35 (A) of the constitution.
- With the annulment of special status to J&K, now entire constitution and parliamentary laws are applicable in the state irrespective of state concurrence.
- Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 was passed by the Parliament. As per the act, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) was re-organized into two Union Territories – J&K division with a legislative assembly and Ladakh without having an assembly.
