Madhavpur Ghed Fair
On 10th April, 2022, the President of India inaugurated five-day long Madhavpur Ghed Fair at Madhavpur Ghed, Porbandar in Gujarat.
- Since 2018, the Government of Gujarat in association with the Ministry of Culture is organizing this fair every year to celebrate the sacred union of Lord Krishna and Rukmini.
About the Fair
- It is a religio-cultural fair taking place every year in Madhavpur, a village on the Porbandar coast, also known as Madhavpur Ghed.
- The fair celebrates the marriage of Lord Krishna with Rukmini around 4,000 years ago.
- According to mythology, Lord Krishna had established his kingdom in Dwarka near Porbandar.
