The strategic environment in the Indo-Pacific region has shifted dramatically. In its key emphasis area of the Indo-Pacific, Australia seeks a more comprehensive security strategy and powerful military weapons. To oppose aggressive China, Canberra has increased and broadened its engagement with friends and partners, including greater cooperation with the QUAD countries and a trilateral security treaty with AUKUS (Australia–United Kingdom–United States).
