Philosophical basis of governance and probity
Governance: The word “governance” means “to steer.” It refers to the manner of steering or governing, or of directing and controlling, a group of people or a state. It is the process of decision-making and the process by which decisions are implemented using political, executive and administrative authority to manage affairs of the nation.
Probity: Probity (“Satya-Nishthata”) means having strong moral standards for honesty, integrity and values. It encompasses all good values and virtues. Probity in governance is an essential and vital requirement for an efficient and effective system of governance and for socio-economic development.
