Tribute to Rani Lakshmibai
On 19th November, 2023, Prime Minister paid tribute to iconic freedom fighter Rani Lakshmibai on her 195th birth anniversary.
About Rani Lakshmibai
- Born on November 19, 1828, in Kashi, Rani Lakshmibai, originally named ‘Manikarnika’ and affectionately known as ‘Manu,’ hailed from a family associated with the Peshwa Sahib of Bithur.
- After the death of her husband Gangadhar Rao who was the king of Jhansi, she became the Queen of Jhansi Regime.
- The British, under the doctrine of Lapse, ordered the merger of Jhansi into the British Empire and assured the queen of pension.
- Rani Laxmibai did not agree to this contract ....
