Smart Policing

  • Smart policing is an idea attempt to assess the performance of various states on PM’s Smart Policing initiative.
  • The concept was introduced by the Prime Minister during the 49th annual conference of Directors-
  • General and Inspectors-General of Police in Guwahati on November 30, 2014.
  • SMART policing envisaged systemic changes to transform the police to be:
    • S: Strict and Sensitive
    • M: Modern and Mobile
    • A: Alert and Accountable
    • R: Reliable and Responsive
