Durgadi Fort
- On 10th December, 2024, after 48 years, the Kalyan (Maharashtra) civil court dismissed a Muslim trust’s suit claiming ownership of an idgah inside Durgadi Fort, ruling in favour of the state government.
- Durgadi fort is located in Kalyan near the Ulhas River, about 50 km northeast of Mumbai.
- The earliest references to the Durgadi Fort date to the 16th century when Kalyan was a prominent trading port under the Bijapur-based Adil Shahi Sultanate.
- It was captured by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1654, who established the first naval fleet of the Maratha Empire at the fort.
