Indian Classical Music (Hindustani and Carnatic Music)
- It has two major traditions: The North Indian classical music tradition is called Hindustani, while the South Indian expression is called Carnatic.
- Carnatic Music originated from the Bhakti movement and has influences of Arab and Persian music whereas Hindustani music originated during the Vedic period and is indigenous.
- Veena, Mridangam and Mandolin musical instruments are used in Carnatic Music whereas Tabla, Sarangi, Sitar and Santoor are used in Hindustani Music.
