Surrogacy and Allied Issues
Ethical Issues
- Abuse of the Surrogate Mother: Except for India, the majority of nations have accepted commercial surrogacy. Some uniformed people may believe that the rest of the world agrees with them because of this. This is not true at all. For instance, the majority of contracts provide that the surrogate must abort the child if genetic testing reveals anomalies that the husband and wife find intolerable.
- The Child's Interests: Many proponents of surrogacy have argued that there is a "right to a kid," which dehumanises children by turning them into a commodity that can be bought and sold.
