- Work Pressure: Pressure is a major factor in the Police's continued use of violence. Despite obstacles to acceptable duty performance, there are several sources of pressure that, in general, relate to performance or output outside of the confined police role.
- Greed for Money: The most abhorrent justification for torture in detention, and one that appears to be on the rise. Many police officers at the station level use violence to force money from criminals and innocent people.
