Economic Survey 2019 has recommended that governments can create data as a public good within the legal framework of data privacy.

  • A closer attention needs to be paid by the government towards data revolution and processing because of push and pull factors related to data.
  • On the one hand, the decreasing marginal cost of data generation and processing is the push factor whereas the increasing economic and social benefits accrued by data processing and usage is the pull factor that is driving a rush towards data across the globe.
