Year-long celebrations marking 150 years(7th August, 2021) of Abanindranath Tagore have begun with a host of online workshops and talks paying tributes to the leading light of the Bengal School of Art.

About Abanindranath Tagore

  • Abanindranath Tagore (7 August 1871 - 5 December 1951), the nephew of Rabindranath Tagore, was one of the most prominent artists of the Bengal school of art in India.
  • Popularly known as 'Aban Thakur', he along with other artists from the Bengal School of Art, advocated in favour of a nationalistic Indian art derived from Indian art history, drawing inspiration from the Ajanta Caves.
