India Signs UNISA
India on 7th August, 2109 signed United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements (UNISA).
UNISA
- The UNGA adopted the UNISA on 20th December 2018 which was open to signature at a signing ceremony to be held on 7thAugust 2019 in Singapore and would be known as the “Singapore Convention on Mediation” (the Convention).
- The Convention provides a uniform and efficient framework for the enforcement of international settlement agreements through mediation and for allowing parties to invoke such agreements for arbitration.
- It ensures that a settlement reached by parties becomes binding and enforceable in accordance with a simplified and streamlined procedure.
