Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act (UAPA), 2019
Recently the Union government declared India’s most wanted terrorists Dawood Ibrahim, Hafiz Saeed, Zakir-ur-Rahman Lakhvi and Masood Azhar,terrorists under the UAPA, 2019.
Background
- UAPA, 1967 was enacted to prevent certain unlawful activities which means any action taken by an individual or association (whether by committing an act or by words, either spoken or written, or by signs or by visible representation or otherwise) which is intended to bring about secession from India or disrupt the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India or causes or is intended to cause disaffection against India.
