High-Level Committee Report on One Nation, One Election
On 14th March, 2024, the High level Committee on One Nation, One Election constituted under the Chairmanship of Shri Ram Nath Kovind, submitted its Report to the President of India.
The Committee was as constituted in September 2023 to examine the issue of holding simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies and local bodies of all States.
Major Recommendations
Two-Step Approach
- The committee proposes a two-step approach towards simultaneous elections.
- In the first step, simultaneous elections will be held to Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
