India – Maldives Ministerial Meet
Why in News?
- External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met her Maldivian counterpart on 17 March 2019 in Malaysian capital Male during her two-day visit. This is first full-fledged bilateral trip from India to Maldives since the new government of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih came to power in Maldives in November 2018.

- India-Maldives ties were at lower ebb during the previous five years of Abdulla Yameen government, a period which saw a drift of Maldives towards China.
