Danda Nacha Festival

  • It is a 21-day long seasonal folk dance festival that is celebrated in South Odisha.
  • It is celebrated during the Indian Calendar month of Chaitra and ends on Vishuva Sankranti, the Odiya New Year.
  • Those performing Danda Nacha or the dance for penance, are called ‘Danduas’ who go through painful procedures for worshipping Goddess Kali and Lord Shiva seeking their blessing
