India’s first 100 Octane Petrol Launched
- On 1st December, 2020, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas launched India’s first 100 Octane petrol under the brand XP100.
- XP100 is being produced at Indian Oil's Mathura refinery using indigenous Octamax technology developed by Indian Oil's R&D division.
- Presently, three octane grades are available at most of the retail stations - 87 (regular), 89 (mid-grade) and 91-94 (premium).
- The premium grade fuel will improve engine performance, engine longevity, and fuel-efficiency. Furthermore, it also meets BS6 emission norms.
