Srinivasa Ramanujan: The Legend

The Royal Society recently published a special issue of the ‘Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society–A’, documenting the proceedings of a conference held at The Royal Society, London, in October 2018 in celebration of the centenary of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan’s election as Fellow of the Royal Society.

Ramanujan’s Seminal Contributions

  • Way ahead of his time, Ramanujan (1887-1920) made some significant contributions which include Mock theta functions, Ramanujan prime, Landau-Ramanujan constant, 1729 (known as Hardy–Ramanujan number), Ramanujan–Petersson conjecture, Ramanujan conjecture, Ramanujan-Soldner constant, Ramanujan’s sum, Ramanujan theta function, Rogers-Ramanujan identities, Ramanujan’s master theorem and Ramanujan-Sato series among others.
