River Ranching Program
On 8th October, 2021, the government launched a national level River Ranching program in Brijghat, Garh Mukteshwar (Uttar Pradesh).
- Along with Uttar Pradesh, other 4 states- Odisha, Uttarakhand, Tripura and Chhattisgarh also participated in the launch of program.
Need
- As the human population is increasing, the need for high quality protein and the demand for fish is gradually increasing.
- Thus, to promote sustainable use and conservation of fish resources in an economical and environmentally responsible manner, this river ranching program was started.
