Global Hunger Index: India Slides down to 102nd Rank
India has slipped to 102nd position in the Global Hunger Index 2019 of 117 countries and is among the 45 countries that have serious levels of hunger.

Global Scenario
- Hunger afflicts almost 821.6 million people worldwide as per its estimates, and nearly two billion people suffer from malnutrition worldwide.
- The level of hunger and under nutrition worldwide falls on the cusp of the moderate and serious categories, at a value of 20.0.
- Seventeen countries, including Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey, Cuba and Kuwait, shared the top rank with GHI scores of less than five.
