Russia-India-China Grouping
- India participated in the virtual meeting of the Russia-India-China (RIC) grouping on June 23 which is the third heads of state meeting of the group.
- RIC is a strategic grouping that first took shape in the late 1990s under the leadership of Yevgeny Primakov as a counterbalance to the Western alliance.
- The Indian decision to go ahead with the foreign ministerial level exchange has created an opening for de-escalation of tension along the Line of Actual Control with the Russian diplomatic sources indicating that they support “constructive dialogue” over the tension in eastern Ladakh.
