Recent ongoing row between the government and Twitter may be nearing its end with the social media giant reportedly complying with the government’s directive on blocking nearly 1,500 accounts but it has brought the term splinternet at the centre of discussion.

  • Splinternet is derived from the fusion of the words “split” and “internet”, and it is a fragmented version of the world wide web with national identities. The reasons for this ‘split’ include global politics, national security, religion and more.
