New Species of Flower Flies
- Researchers from the Shadpada Entomology Research Lab (SERL) at Christ College, Irinjalakuda, Kerala, reported two new species of flower flies.
- The species, Mesembrius bengalensis and M. quadrivittatus, were found in the Kole wetlands and Vilagan Kunnu hillocks in Thrissur district.
- Flower flies, belonging to the family Syrphidae, mimic bees or wasps and are crucial pollinators.
