Uniform Civil Code
Significance
- National Integration and Secularism: By fostering a feeling of community and common identity among all citizens, Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will promote secularism and national integration. Furthermore, it would reduce conflicts between communities and religions brought on by varied personal laws.
- Gender Justice and Equality: UCC will promote gender justice and equality by doing away with the discrimination and repression that many personal laws subject women to. It would grant women the same rights and status as men in relation to marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption, maintenance, etc.
