World Heritage Status to Charaideo Moidams
Charaideo Moidam in Assam has been officially included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
- The inscription was announced during the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) held in July 2024 in Delhi.
- The site was recommended under the Cultural Property category by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
- This is the first site from North East India to receive UNESCO World Heritage status in the Cultural category.
- With this inclusion, India now has 43 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in total.
- Assam now has 3 sites:
- Charaideo Moidam (Cultural)
- Kaziranga National Park (Natural)
- Manas National Park (Natural)
