Regional Wetlands Workshop under Sahbhagita Mission
On February 1, 2025, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh presided over North India’s regional workshop.
- It was held in Ayodhya ahead of World Wetlands Day (February 2).
- It covered 9 states; part of 4thregional workshop after Hyderabad, Kolkata, Gangtok.
- Parvati Arga Bird Sanctuary (Gonda, UP) selected as host Ramsar site.
- Sahbhagita Mission: Launched in 2022 by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of India (MoEF&CC).
- It encourages community-led wetland conservation with a “whole-of-society” approach.
