Potti Sriramulu Statue
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on March 16, 2025 announced that a 58-foot tall statue of freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu will be installed in Amaravati - the upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh.
- Potti Sriramulu was instrumental in the creation of the separate Telugu-speaking state of Andhra Pradesh in 1953.
- The statue installation will be completed before the next birth anniversary of Sriramulu, along with a memorial in Amaravati.
- Sriramulu was born on March 16, 1901 in Madras. Sriramulu’s family originally hailed from Nellore.
