Panchayat Development Plans: Jan Yojana Abhiyan
In October 2024, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched the People’s Plan Campaign (Jan Yojana Abhiyan) to prepare Panchayat Development Plans (PDPs) for 2025–26.
Key Highlights
- Introduced as ‘Sabki Yojana Sabka Vikas’ (2018) to enhance grassroots participation in local governance.
- Involves all three tiers of Panchayats, engaging elected representatives, government workers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and stakeholders.
- Structured Gram Sabhas, Block Sabhas, and District Sabhas will prepare development plans based on the Panchayat Development Index (PDI), ensuring alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Approved plans will be published on the e-Gram Swaraj portal for transparency and accessibility.
