Madhav National Park: India’s 58th Tiger Reserve
On 8th March 2025, Union Environment Minister announced that Madhav National Park had officially been designated as a tiger reserve.
What is a Tiger Reserve?
- A tiger reserve is a protected area designated under Project Tiger to conserve tigers and their habitats.
- It consists of two zones: Core Zone - Strictly protected, designated as a national park or sanctuary, and Buffer Zone - Mixed-use land that supports wildlife movement and habitat.
National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA)
- The NTCA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, established under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
