Climate Risk Index, 2025
The international environmental think tank ‘Germanwatch’ has released the Climate Risk Index (CRI) 2025 on February 12, 2025.
- India was among the 10 countries most affected by extreme weather events between 1993 and 2022, accounting for 10% of global fatalities caused by such events, and 4.3% of the damage (in dollar terms).
- It was ranked sixth in the Climate Risk Index, 2025.
Key Findings
- Over 765,000 deaths and $4.2 trillion losses from 9,400+ extreme weather events globally.
- Major Threats: Storms (35%), Heatwaves (30%), Floods (27%).
