Biolumpivaxin
In February 2025, Biovet (Bharat Biotech’s animal health arm) received approval from the Central Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO) for Biolumpivaxin, a vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle and buffaloes, caused by lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) of genus Capripoxvirus belonging to the family Poxviridae.
- It is world’s first DIVA vaccine (Differentiating Infected from Vaccinated Animals).
- It is single annual dose for cattle/buffaloes aged 3+ months.
- Developed using LSD virus/Ranchi/2019 strain (from ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines, Hisar).
- Jointly developed by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Biovet.
