21st ASEAN-India Summit and 19th East Asia Summit

The 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit took place in Vientiane, Lao PDR, from October 10-11, 2024.

  • This summit also marked 10 years of India's Act East Policy (AEP).
  • During the summit, India and ASEAN reaffirmed their commitment to promoting regional peace, stability, and cooperation.

Key Announcements by PM Modi

  • Prime Minister Modi outlined a 10-point plan to enhance ASEAN-India collaboration, which included:
    1. Declaring 2025 as ASEAN-India Year of Tourism with a $5 million fund.
    2. Doubling scholarships at Nalanda University for ASEAN students.
    3. Completing the AITIGA review by 2025 to boost trade.
    4. Hosting an ASEAN-India Women Scientists Conclave.
    5. Allocating $5 million for disaster ....
