One Nation One Election
Elections in five Indian states in February-March 2022 have once again brought the issue of One Nation, One Election, i.e. having simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, to the fore.
Constitutional Aspect of Election
- Article 324 allows superintendence, direction and control of elections to be vested in an Election Commission.
- Article 326 allow selections to the House of the People and to the Legislative Assemblies of States to be on the basis of adult suffrage.
