The Revolt of 1857: Major Events in Rajasthan
- The revolution of 1857 started in Meerut on 10 May, 1857.
- At this time, Major Showers, Mock Mason and Colonel Eden were appointed as political agents in Mewar, Marwar, and Jaipur respectively.
- All of them were under the then AGG of Rajasthan (Agent to Governor General) George Patrick Lawrence.
- There were six military cantonments in Rajasthan at the time of the revolution of 1857.
Nasirabad (28 May, 1857)
- The first start of the revolt was from Nasirabad.
- Reason: The British government had sent the 15th Bengal Infantry of Ajmer to Nasirabad because the government did not trust it. This angered all the soldiers. They ....
