Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024
On 11th December 2024, the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak bill received the Presidential assent.
- The Act, which came into force from January 1, 2025, aims to modernize aviation regulations.
Major Provisions
- Modernized Framework: The Act regulates design, manufacture, possession, use, trade, and operation of aircraft, while retaining provisions of the 1934 Act.
- Aviation Oversight Bodies
- Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA): Regulatory functions and safety oversight.
- Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS): Security oversight.
- Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau (AAIB): Aircraft accident investigations.
- Enhanced Offense Provisions: Includes penalties for dangerous flying, carrying explosives on aircraft, and actions compromising airport safety, punishable with up to three years' imprisonment or ....
