The Biological Diversity Act 2002 and Biological Diversity Rules
India's attempt to implement the objectives expressed in the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) 1992, which affirms states' sovereign rights to use their biological resources, resulted in the Biological Diversity Act 2002.
Objectives
- Conservation of biological diversity
- Sustainable use of its components; and
- A fair and equitable distribution of the benefits derived from the use of genetic resources are all goals.
Structure
