CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna)
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Animals (CITES) is an international agreement between states that went into effect in 1975.
- It is the only convention that ensures that international trade in plants and animals does not endanger their survival in the wild. States that have joined it are legally bound by it.
