Glands & Hormones - Endocrine System
The endocrine system is made of 9 major glands located throughout the human body that control and coordinate many functions to keep our bodies working in balance, called homeostasis.
- The endocrine system uses chemicals messengers called hormones and release them directly into the blood stream that surrounds the glands.

- Glands are a group of cells that produce and release hormones directly into our blood stream in a process called secretion. There are 2 types of glands.
- Exocrine glands have ducts or channels which secrete chemicals such as saliva or sweat.
