Making Lakhpati Didis: Multiple Livelihoods Show the Way
- The 'Lakhpati Didi Initiative' of the Ministry of Rural Development aims to empower women associated with Self Help Groups (SHGs) to achieve an annual household income of more than Rs 1,00,000 by adopting sustainable livelihood practices.
- It was launched in 2023. With an initial target of 2 crore Lakhpati Didis, the target of the program has been increased to 3 crore by 2024-25.
- According to the government, more than 94 lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) with 10 crore women are being supported through the Lakhpati Didi Initiative.
