- Pest Infestation: India's cotton fields are vulnerable to pest infestation, which lowers both output and quality. Pest infestation in cotton fields can be attributed to a number of factors, including a lack of crop rotation, monoculture, weather patterns, poor soil quality, a lack of pest management, etc.
- Low Productivity: Compared to other major cotton-producing nations, India has lower per-hectare cotton productivity. This is mostly caused by the employment of out-of-date farming techniques, insufficient irrigation systems, and subpar seed quality.
- Lack of Irrigation: Cotton farming requires irrigation, however many Indian cotton growers do not have access to sufficient irrigation infrastructure.
