  • Brijendra K Syngal, former Chairman of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), passed away on 9 July 2022.
  • Syngal, was acknowledged as the ‘Father of the Indian Internet’.
  • He launched the internet in five Indian cities - Delhi, Bombay, Kolkata (then Calcutta), Chennai (then Madras) and Pune - on 15 August, 1995.
