K Kelappan: A Dedicated Freedom Fighter and a Stalwart Social Reformer
- K Kelappan (1889-1971), popularly known as ‘Kerala Gandhi’, was a prominent freedom fighter and Gandhian social activist.
- Kelappan was first Kerala Satyagrahi to join Mahatma Gandhi’s Individual Satyagraha.
- Kelappan was the co-founder and the first president of the Nair Service and Society (NSS) established in 1914 under the guidance of Mannath Padmanabhan.
- Kelappan was also key figure in Vaikom Satyagraha and the leader of the Guruvayur Satyagraha in 1932.
- Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (KCAET), the one and only Agricultural Engineering College is located in Tavanur village, Kerala established in 1963.
